I’m Ana. I lead product and design at Swell, an API-first commerce platform, where I’ve spent the last seven years going from product designer to Chief Design Officer.

Along the way I’ve run design, product management and marketing, sometimes all at once, for a team that ships a platform to developers and an admin to merchants. Most of my work has been about making a technical product feel like one company, whether someone meets it through the API, the docs, the admin or the marketing site.

I build the things I design. I founded The Good Commerce, a Framer plugin that people pay for, and I write production code in Swell’s admin. That changed how I lead: I scope smaller, I prototype before I brief, and I know what a design costs to build before I ask for it.

Outside work I make things with my hands and with my partner Josh: a planting tool for landscape architects, an installation for ACMI, silver rings cast in sand. Next big project: aquaponics.
